What are northern lights ?
Northern lights roofs have that distinctive industrial saw tooth profile. The north facing glazing gains light without glare and overheating. Now sometimes dilapidated and undervalued, these buildings are often located close to city centres, and installation of a mezzanine floor can give them a new lease of life, creating interesting workshop and office space within the roof trusses combined with extremely efficient single storey ground floor space.
Hidden Space
It is not immediately apparent to many owners of such buildings quite how much useable space may be available in the roofspace. The feasibility of conversion depends largely upon the roof truss design.
Design
Our experienced designers are able to assess roof designs and propose solutions that will offer useable, accessible space that meets all the current legislation, enabling the cost effective reuse of buildings in what are often expensive locations, either for clients themselves, enabling them to cope with expansion at a desirable , convenient location, or for rewarding eco friendly redevelopment of sites to create interesting workspace.
Recent projects
Recent conversions undertaken include an Edwardian clock factory, a display cabinet rental company, a sports equipment supplier and a speculative office development .
