Why do you need to use this service?

Each supplier presents their quotation in their own way, has their own payment terms, terms and conditions. Given the same area they will even measure it differently!

For example:

Supplier A measures from blockwork wall to blockwork wall, whilst Supplier B measures from inside of cladding to inside of cladding. If the cladding is set back by 200mm behind the blockwork wall (a fairly typical construction detail) then Supplier A’s floor is 400mm smaller in both directions. On a relatively small 10m x 10m floor this leads to Suppler A’s floor being more than 8% smaller than Supplier B’s.

All other things being equal, this could lead to one quote being £800 more than the other on a £10,000 project.

Furthermore if the cheaper price is accepted it may lead to a 200mm gap around the floor or a bill for extras and an unsatisfied customer.

Supplier A always quotes the most economical grid, whilst Supplier B goes to some trouble to establish  what grid the client needs. The client wants large spans and the space below his mezzanine to have no columns as it is to be a showroom area. Supplier B reflects this in his quotation, making it more expensive. If the client selects the cheaper quote, he risks ending up with columns in the middle of his showroom, and being dissatisfied.

Supplier A  measures incorrectly and his floor is only 60% of the size of Supplier B's, who measured correctly but quoted a higher price. If the client selects the cheaper quote he may be at risk of being liable for the additional cost of mismeasured flooring depending upon the suppliers terms and conditions. There is the risk of a dispute and potential legal costs leaving an unsatisfied client.

Supplier A wins a project due to his extremely attractive price. His terms are 50% upfront, balance upon completion. He gratefully accepts a cheque with order, and is not seen again. Result – unsatisfied customer.

Benefit from more than 20 years professional experience!

The mezzanine floor industry is a competitive field containing characters and professionals as any other. It is unusual for there to be a great difference in costs when quotations are compared on a like for like basis, but there is the potential for  great variation in service and quality.

It is easy for misunderstanding to occur when reading quotations due to different ways of presenting information and separating out costs.

If there is a difference greater than 5% in your quotations then it is unlikely that you are being quoted for a similar product.

The scenarios described above are only some of those that we have seen play out where our competitors have left unsatisfied customers, let alone the only potential problems that can arise.

To avoid these or similar issues arising, ensure that you fully evaluate your mezzanine proposals or, better still, use our free appraisal service.

Just e-mail a copy of the specifications that you have obtained, along with your contact details to quoteappraisal@llonsson.co.uk and we will ask the necessary questions, highlight the differences and help you to make the right, informed, decision.
